Teen and Parenting Therapy
Teen and parenting therapy can help when emotions run high, conflict feels constant, or communication has broken down at home. Using Connect → Insight → Rebuild → Maintain, we strengthen the parent-teen relationship while helping teens build coping skills, confidence, and healthier choices.
Common Reasons Families Seek Help:
Screen time, gaming, social media, or phone conflict
Family changes (divorce, remarriage, new siblings, moves, grief)
Trauma
Health-related issues (chronic symptoms, pain, fatigue, medical anxiety, sleep issues)*
*While not a substitute for medical care, counseling can help with stress, grief, identity shifts, and coping as you adjust to symptoms or treatment.
Frequent conflict, arguing, or constant tension at home
Shut down communication, secrecy, or feeling disconnected
Defiance, disrespect, or difficulty with rules and boundaries
Anxiety, stress, panic, or feeling overwhelmed
Low mood, irritability, sadness, or loss of motivation
Self-worth and confidence
Friendship drama, bullying, loneliness, or social pressure
School issues (grades, focus, avoidance, attendance, perfectionism)
What to expect in our work together
Connect — Start by building trust and lowering the temperature so everyone feels heard. We clarify what’s happening and set goals you can actually measure at home.
Insight — Map the escalation cycle: triggers, interpretations, and unmet needs for both parent and teen, using attachment and trauma-informed care to understand stress responses.
Rebuild — Use practical tools that fit your family: communication skills, boundaries, emotional regulation, and problem-solving. Drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), we work on healthier thought patterns and coping strategies, and build on the strengths already present in your teen and your parenting, so change feels possible and sustainable.
Maintain — Create a plan that holds up in real-life home rhythms and support systems, with clear next steps for future stressors. Check-ins help you stay on track, celebrate progress, and adjust as your teen grows and new seasons bring new challenges.
How parents are involved
Parent involvement is tailored to your family’s needs. This often includes periodic parent sessions, joint sessions when helpful, and practical tools you can use at home right away. Teens also need a space that feels private, so we will be clear about confidentiality, the limits, and how we handle safety concerns.
